Leeds

It's has really been awhile now, and I know I should have blogged ealier but hey, I'm blogging now. Still there are some pics I can't upload, dunno why it always allow 10 only at a time. Anyway, road to Leeds was great and it was really fun. I have to say this is the furthest by far I've been away from home. Home sick, you ask? Nope, not one bit, but I do miss people back there. Really missed the good old days, well, not really very old, but missed all the fun we had!

Well, I don't feel home sick cause this is really a good chance to learn alot of stuffs I guess, new culture, new environment. Stringent checks at Heathrow, yeah! VERY! but anyway, I got through without much problem, so I was lucky I guess.

On the plane from Kuching to KL, I did feel rather sad but after awhile, I was ok...at KL I had 4 hours till the next flight and it was my first time in the International terminal so I spent my time checking out the terminal, it was great with much more shops compared to the other terminal. Harrods is there, and there are TWO! wao! London only has one Harrod. Oh well, I was thinking of getting a scarf and saw one which caught my eye at Harrods KL, but it's RM149!!! WTF???!!?? So, I didnt get it.

Now, the 14 hour flight from KL to Heathrow, London was not really that bad. Was expecting worse, but it was rather ok, had our first meal at Msia time 2:00am, a rare meal for me! then another at Msia time 10:00am. Too bad camera is allowed to be brought up to the plane now, but we jus cant use it, so didnt take any pics on the flight. Arrived at Heathrow and it was 14 degree that morning, started shivering the moment I stepped out of the gate to board the bus to terminal 1 for my connecting flight to Leeds.

After immigration clearance, I went on to find my gate first, before I check out heathrow airport. There wasnt much to look around in heathrow cause my gate was pretty much at the end of the terminal, so I only hung around that area. What's the first thing I bought in the UK? A freaking BANANA! Dunno why, I jus felt that I really want one in my damn mouth and stomach, my stomach wasn't very well either. So I bought ONE for 59 pence, that's RM4.20 for one fucking BANANA! I could have the whole BANANA tree back in Miri for that price! So I had that, a bottle of mineral water and a bar of Mars for my breakfast that morning.

Then I arrived in Leeds and met up with my housemates, they are very nice people really but sadly they're leaving in Sept and Oct as they've already graduated. So I really have to say I had no problem blending in to this place as they've made it like home the second I came in.

The first few days, went to get the things I need to settle down and registered my papers at FTC and still I'm waiting for the bank confirmation letter to get my account active.

People here are generally kind and polite, 100% unlike KL. There are many things to learn and many thing I find that Msia should use some practice. Like, in a supermarket, or any cash counters, No matter how many cashiers there are, there's only one line, so everyone has the same priority, you wouldn't need to choose "Which line is shorter? Which line is faster?" And, in supermarkets, when u pay at the counter, you need to load your buying into the plastic bags yourself, which solves the problem for extra stuffs loading plastic bags back in Msia. Cut cost ma, then pay higher lo, bodoh really!

Markets here, fruits are great! But, don't touch them, ask for them politely. That's good too cause we Msian has this culture or pressing the fruits, "oh, it's good, it's good" But the moment we press that fruit, it is no longer good! There's a dent and it will turn brown! What else, wine here is cheap! Some even cheaper than soft drinks, Coke is 1.50 pounds, and a wine is round 2.99 a bottle or sometimes Two for 2.99, so tell me, which are u getting???

Walking here is fun, cold but there'r very few flat paths to walk on, its either climbing a slope or going down one, so it can be tiring too. Rain, never lasted more than 10 mins here. And the sky is Oh, so cleaR! I kinda like my room cause the view is stunning, a very good night view and its windy here, I recond my room is 2 or 3 degree below the temeprature outside as I open both windows all the time and there's minimal sun through my room.

These few days its getting cold, around 16 to 18 degree during the day and below 10 at night. It's only the beginning of autumn here. I can't imagine Winter. My gosh!

Bought a England jers for 11 pounds which is really cheap. Anyway, I guess I'll update again, I've forgotten about the time, I need to get to FTC to get a new letter typed, apprently there was a typo with it. Take care there guys, and good luck! Miss ya guys and gals!

21st

Birthday? Well, I'm very touched by everyone's calls and messages. Thank you everyone! Really...

But how sad, this semester, our result is revealed on this very day and well, it isn't as expected but life goes on guys! Congrats to Tara and Diana on finishing ACCA and to the others as well and those who didn't make it through some papers, we'll have to fight on and deal with it. SOB tonight and tomorrow we'll have to start focusing again.

It has been a great and yet terrible day I would have to say. We've worked our ass out and yet...the decision is sometimes too cruel. All I have to say now is, look forward guys. Take care!
